Carpal tunnel syndrome at first affected hundreds, then thousands, and subsequently millions of people.
It was a quiet, yet progressive threat which, in its early stages, seemed easy to control.  But once it took hold in the general population, carpal tunnel syndrome became an overwhelming foe causing pain, suffering and disability in millions of patients and their families across the United States and throughout the world.

In this revealing book you'll learn:

The  true nature of nerve problems

      Medical  and alternative treatments

Six  points to consider before having  surgery

      Lifestyle  modifications

      Pain  management techniques

How  your physical and psychological psyches work  together in the healing process

How  other sufferers have conquered the physical and  psychological trauma of nerve  disease

What at first seemed a simple problem which could be "easily  fixed" grew into a living nightmare for patients,  employers, and physicians.  After reading this book you'll better understand the disease that threatens to undermine the very core of today's working society.

Dr.  Scott M. Fried realized early in his orthopaedic career that the mind and body are closely linked in the healing and disease  processes.  He is founder, president, and chief surgeon of the Montgomery County Hand Center - one of the first medical facilities to utilize biofeedback and alternative medical techniques to treat carpal tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, and complex nerve problems. Dr. Fried is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand  and upper extremity surgery.  After graduating from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1981, he studied at the Thomas Jefferson University Hand Center and subsequently with Dr. James Hunter, an expert on thoracic outlet and brachial plexus problems.
Dr. Fried enjoys spending time with his wife and three children at their home in Pennsylvania. He is also a former professional musician and studies the martial arts.
